Modern Mitzvahs

Ryan’s Bar Mitzvah

One of Ryan’s favorite places is Skylake Yosemite Camp, which he has been going to since he was six years old. Needless to say, “Camp Ryan” would be the perfect theme for this Bar Mitzvah.

Both the service and party were held at the beautiful Santaluz Club. The service was set on the rustic stone patio where guests took in the beautiful views surrounding the venue. Rather than your typical kippahs, we kept in line with the camp theme by using 100% biodegradable seed paper. Guests were encouraged to take them home and plant them to make the world more beautiful.

Table seating assignments were hung on a pallet wall decorated with fairy lights. Each table was named after Ryan’s favorite spots in the Yosemite Valley, such as El Capitan and Half Dome. The adult tables were decorated with large round wood slabs topped with galvanized lanterns, a small pine tree, pinecones and moss. For the kids table, we started with a two-tired galvanized tray where we placed mason jars filled with Ryan’s favorite candies. Glow in the dark sticks were the finishing touch for some added fun.

Other decor included a personalized camp sign, marquee letters and potted pine trees. Lime green benches and a 12 player LED foosball table filled in the room nicely. The food was amazing and the VG donuts and ice cream bar were a big hit with the kids and adults. A big shout out to the D.J. who kept the party going all night.
